It is located at 4200 (masl), at the base of the Humantay mountain (5473 masl), which together with the Salkantay (6271 masl), is the majestic snow-capped part of the Vilcabamba mountain range that will accompany us in this experience.

The mountains that we have mentioned previously were tutelary spirits called -Apus-, which communicated the world of man with the world of the gods; therefore, these Apus were protectors of man and messengers from the earthly to the divine. In these lands, the lagoons were known as -Pacarinas- and they were also sacred, they were considered the place of origin of the llamas and alpacas, who form a very important part of the Andean civilization. All these wonderful places are part of the network of Inca trails known as Qapaqñan, the road surrounding this area is known as Salkantay Trek, an Inca trail that ends in Machu Picchu.
The beautiful Humantay Lake gives us different colors depending on the perspective and the place you observe it. Some places are ideal to take amazing pictures, although unfortunately, a photograph can hardly ever capture the beauty or emotion that you feel being in a place as special as this.
